What We Believe

CrossPointe adheres to the Baptist Faith and Message revised in 2000 by the Southern Baptist Convention.  Some of our major beliefs are:

  • We believe the Bible is the Word of God.
  • We believe God is One and exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe mankind was created by God in His image. Mankind voluntarily chose to sin and is in need of God's grace for salvation.
  • We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone. Jesus died on the cross, paid the penalty for all of mankind's sins, and rose bodily from the grave. Salvation is obtained by receiving Jesus Christ as Savior. Those who receive His free gift of salvation are eternally secure in Him.
  • We believe the church is the body of Christ and exists to fulfill the Great Commission.
  • We believe Baptism and the Lord's Supper are the two ordinances of the church.
  • We believe Jesus will return for a second time to judge the world and take His people home to heaven to be with Him forever.
  • We believe God has called all believers to be good stewards with the resources He has blessed them with.
  • We believe in cooperating with other groups that help advance the kingdom of God and work of the ministry.

Our Mission

Reaching across generations and cultures to develop faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

There are 4 key phrases in this mission statement:

Reaching across Generations – We desire to be a church capable of helping people of all ages.  By offering a variety of worship services and styles, we are able to reach across generations and appeal to people from all age groups.

Reaching across Cultures – We recognize that the world has come to our doorsteps. Our desire is to reach out to all people regardless of their nationality, race, or culture.

To develop – We want our focus to be on people not programs or methods. Our goal is always the "Next Person." We believe discipleship begins before a person comes to Christ and is a never-ending process of growth until the believer is called home to heaven.

Faithful followers of Jesus Christ – We believe this is what a disciple is. A disciple is a learner who follows Jesus faithfully in every area of his or her life.

Our Values

Our values describe how we are going to carry out our mission. Values are core convictions that often are unspoken in churches. We want our values to be clarified so people know exactly what our priorities are as a church.

At CrossPointe we value:

The Bible as the foundational guide for our purpose driven ministry. Although we appreciate tradition, programs, and certain methods that have been effective over the years; our ultimate commitment is to the principles and purposes spelled out in God's Word.

Authentic Relationships fostered in an atmosphere of acceptance and accountability. We believe the church is a family and a community of believers. As a family and a community we desire to love, care for, and encourage our members.

Integrity modeled through our leaders, our methods of ministry and our finances.

Faith-based risk taking instead of maintaining the status quo.

Unity in the body despite variety in methodology, ministry styles, worship styles, and approaches.

Passion expressed in enthusiasm and whole hearted service to the Lord. In all that we do, we want to do the very best we can in order to honor God.

Cooperation among the individuals and teams in our church as well as with other Great Commission groups outside of our church.

Our Vision

A vision is a picture of a preferred future. Although no one but God knows the future, we believe God has given us a pretty clear picture of the kind of church He wants us to be.

We envision CrossPointe being an On-Mission church. We anticipate that we will be doing mission projects in our community, going on mission trips around the world, and supporting missions with our prayers and finances. We expect to be the sponsoring church of at least three strong, healthy, and reproducing new church plants in Clark County.

We envision CrossPointe being a Disciple-Making headquarters. We will do whatever it takes to lead people to faith in Jesus Christ. We will be a place where new believers are equipped and encouraged to grow in their walk with God. We expect to be a church that nurtures and disciples all believers to help them become servant-leaders and fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

We envision CrossPointe being a church of Strategic Partnerships. We foresee relationships with other local churches, seminaries, and community organizations that will enable us to do together what we cannot do alone. We anticipate partnerships which will enable us to plant churches, take mission's trips, develop vocational ministers, and meet community needs.

We envision CrossPointe being a Gathering Place in the community. We see the church as a place that gets used by church members and citizens of the community for recreation, relationship-building, after-school activities, fellowship events, and other uses.

We envision CrossPointe being a Multi-Generational church. We plan on offering multiple worship services that appeal to people of all ages. We foresee relationships being built across generations.

We envision CrossPointe being a Multi-Cultural church. We foresee ourselves becoming a church that is used throughout the week by different ethnic churches. We also believe our own church will become more multi-cultural as our community continues to be more diverse and we impact our neighborhood through our ministries.

We envision CrossPointe being a church of Authentic Worshipers. We envision utilizing a variety of styles, services, and creative approaches to help people worship God both at the church and in their daily lives. We desire to create a climate where people can encounter God in worship and genuinely respond to Him.
